In addition, BCI-540 appears to have a dual mechanism of action, with a unique profile that may be optimal for both the treatment of depression and anxiety.

BCI in-licensed BCI-540 from Mitsubishi Pharmaceutical Corporation (MPC) in August 2006. BCI-540 has been clinically tested on more than 700 patients for a different indication and has demonstrated a favorable safety profile.

BCI has repositioned BCI-540 using its proprietary neurogenesis platform technology and has selected the treatment of depression and anxiety, where BCI believes there is a strong market need and high likelihood of clinical success.
